Services - FAQ

  1. Submit your request and the document you would like us to proofread or edit (in .doc or .docx format) to hello@lumida.ca. We’ll be in touch shortly with a quote for our services.
  2. Once you’ve approved our quote, you’ll receive a link to sign our client agreement and complete your payment. Once the invoice has been paid in full, we’ll start working on your document.
  3. You have our guarantee that your document will be returned to you by the agreed upon deadline. Your document will be returned as a marked-up file with tracked changes and detailed comments, enabling you to retain control over the revisions that are made to your document.

Currently, all files must be submitted in .doc or .docx format.

While the amount of time it takes to edit/proofread your document depends on how long it is, many shorter documents can be completed in 1 -2 working days. Longer and more complicated documents will take more time. We are often able to take on rush orders (due within 4 – 24 hours), so please just let us know what timeline you have in mind, and we’ll do our best to accommodate. (However, please note that rush orders come with a 10% additional charge.)

Yes. If you order both editing and proofreading for a document, we will give you 15% off the total (pre-tax) value of the order.

In almost all cases, payment is required upfront, and we are unable to begin working on your order until payment has been received in full. However, if you are in need of recurring services, exceptions can be made.

Currently, we accept payment via credit card (through a secure third-party service called Square) or e-transfer.

Unfortunately, we do not currently offer any content writing/content creation services.

Our pricing is determined on a per-project basis, but the average cost of our services is 4 – 6 cents per word.

We do not offer refunds for completed work, and we are very proud to say that we have only had happy customers! However, if you ever have any concerns about the quality of our work, simply let us know, and we’ll work with you towards a resolution.

Yes. We do not edit most works of fiction, including book and short story manuscripts, poems/poetry collections, and stage plays.

Yes. We charge a minimum of $50/CAD + HST per order. So, for example, if you submitted a 200-word or 500-word document on its own, the charge would be $50/CAD + HST in either case.

Lumida Editing and Proofreading was founded in 2017, but our founder has been writing and editing documents since long before that!

We’re glad you asked.

  1. We operate 100% remotely. This enables us to avoid the excess resource consumption and CO2 emissions generated by operating a secondary location and travelling to and from that location.
  2. We encourage our team members to only use paper where required to (e.g., where a bank mandates the signing of a physical contract). Otherwise, we are a paper-free business.
  3. We give careful consideration to which vendors we work with, researching what each vendor is doing to improve sustainability and address the climate crisis.
  4. We love to learn about how to further improve our sustainability, and we try to stay on top of the latest research and trends.
  5. We strive to educate and engage; through our social media and blog posts, we work to engage with our community and keep these very important discussions going.
  6. We encourage our team members to get involved in their own communities (e.g., by volunteering in community cleanups).
  7. Our CEO & founder, Jess, lives a low-waste, eco-conscious lifestyle, striving to reduce waste and support the planet wherever possible.

Unfortunately, at this time, we have all the help we need! If we begin hiring in the future, our website will be updated to reflect this change.
